Résumé : Caractérisation et réponse au traitement d’enfants anxieux souffrant
d’asthme
Objectif : Comparer les enfants souffrant de troubles anxieux de l’axe
I et d’asthme avec un groupe jumelé d’enfants anxieux sans asthme d’après
les mesures d’un questionnaire et la réponse à une thérapie cognitivo-comportementale
(TCC) pour l’anxiété.
Méthodes : Trente-six enfants souffrant d’anxiété et d’asthme, âgés de 8
à 12 ans, ont été jumelés selon l’âge, le sexe et le trouble anxieux spécifique
avec 36 enfants anxieux. Les parents et les enfants ont rempli des questionnaires
normalisés.
Résultats : Les enfants souffrant d’anxiété et d’asthme avaient eu significativement
plus de complications périnatales (P = 0,001), un total (P = 0,000) et
des stresseurs psychologiques (P = 0,02) plus élevés, surtout des problèmes
parent–enfant (P = 0,01), mais des niveaux plus faibles de dépression (P
= 0,03) et d’anxiété (P = 0,05), comparativement aux enfants souffrant
seulement d’anxiété. Tous les enfants ont déclaré moins d’anxiété (P =
0,001) et de dépression (P = 0,000) après le traitement. Cependant, les
enfants souffrant d’anxiété et d’asthme affichaient une tendance vers une
amélioration moindre de l’anxiété.
Conclusion : Bien qu’une réplique soit nécessaire, aborder les problèmes
parent-enfant et de stress psychologique peut accroître l’efficacité de
la TCC chez les enfants souffrant d’anxiété et d’asthme.
