Résumé : LInterventions pour réduire les stigmates associés à la maladie mentale grave : expériences du programme Ouvrir les portes en Allemagne
Les stigmates associés à la maladie mentale et au traitement psychiatrique, et la discrimination à l’endroit des personnes souffrant de maladies mentales qui en résulte souvent, sont les principaux obstacles à un traitement précoce et réussi. Pour réduire ces stigmates et cette discrimination, surtout à l’égard des personnes souffrant de schizophrénie, le programme anti-stigmate de l’Association mondiale de psychiatrie, Ouvrir les portes, est présentement mis en oeuvre dans 27 pays. Depuis août 1999, la campagne a été menée dans 7 centres du projet en Allemagne. Des programmes d’information du public et des mesures éducatives destinés à des groupes cibles choisis devraient améliorer les connaissances du public sur la symptomatologie, les causes et les options de traitement de la schizophrénie et des troubles schizophréniformes. De meilleures connaissances devraient à leur tour abolir les préjugés et les perceptions négatives, et faciliter la réinsertion sociale des personnes souffrant de maladies mentales.
