The Douglas Utting Award This year The Douglas Utting Prize and Medal has been awarded to Dr. Trevor Young, Physician-in-Chief, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Professor and Cameron Wilson Chair in Depression Studies, University of Toronto. Dr. Young will be the keynote speaker at the annual Douglas Utting Lecture on November 10, 2003, Monday, 7:30 pm at the Institute of Community and Family Psychiatry of the Sir Mortimer B. Davis Jewish General Hospital. His topic will be: “Rethinking the causes and treatment of mood disorders”. Dr. Young will be awarded the prize and medal at this lecture. Call for NominationsThe Douglas Utting Award is offered annually to an individual, working in Canada, who has made a significant contribution to the study, understanding or treatment of depressive disorders. The Award consists of a medal and a certificate together with an honorarium of $7,500 CDN and will be presented during the autumn in Montreal. Nominations should be signed by at least 3 persons and must include a letter describing why the nominee has been proposed. The nominee=s current curriculum vitae, any relevant supporting documents and a statement by the candidate accepting the nomination must also be included. The successful candidate will be selected by a jury of recognized experts in the field of mental health representing all regions of Canada.
