The Scenario
Psychiatrist Gilbert Capgras lies in critical condition in the ICU while two teams of 10 intrepid investigators (The Sherlocks and The Thought Broadcasters) compete to solve his attempted murder.
The Investigative Teams
After a briefing from the Halifax crime-scene investigators, the Sherlocks and Thought Broadcasters are set loose to interview suspects in venues in and around the convention centre and to view the crime scene (doggedly guarded by Sgt. Perfect AKA Blake Woodside). Time is short. There are only two hours to reveal...who dunnit.
The Post Mortem
It was a tough case but investigators profited. They earned no less than four MOC credits for their sleuthing and additional credits in the subsequent workshops that gave a more didactic review of the content covered in the case. The investigative teams drew important lessons from the case. They refined their understanding of the potentially lethal complications of psychotropic medications and are better prepared to untangle complex stories of research intrigue where suicide and homicide are possibilities (they also learned about physician health and
research ethics).
The Plot Thickens…
Rumour has it that murder and mayhem will dog the Canadian Psychiatric Association’s 2004 annual meeting in Montreal! HC
